Food Service Worker (Educational Environment)

Needed in San Luis Obispo, CA. Will play vital role in ensuring students have access to balanced meals in welcoming environment that promotes healthy eating habits. Duties include: Preparing & serving variety of meals following established recipes & guidelines; Maintaining clean & organized cafeteria area including food stations, serving lines, & dining tables; Assisting in receiving, inspecting, & storing food & supplies in compliance with safety & health standards; Portioning & packaging meals according to portion control guidelines; Interacting with students in friendly & respectful manner, providing excellent customer service; Handling cash transactions accurately & maintaining proper cash handling procedures; Assisting in maintaining accurate meal counts & records for reporting purposes; Following food safety & sanitation procedures to ensure safety of all food products; Collaborating with kitchen staff to ensure efficient meal preparation & service; Assisting in setup & breakdown of cafeteria equipment & serving areas; Assisting in cleaning & sanitizing dishes, utensils, & kitchen equipment; Participating in training sessions related to food safety, customer service, & job-specific tasks; Performing other duties as assigned by Food Service Manager or Supervisor. Required qualifications: Knowledge of basic food preparation, sanitation, & safety practices; Strong communication skills & ability to interact with students, staff, & parents in positive manner; Ability to work in fast-paced environment while maintaining attention-to-detail; Flexibility to adapt to changing menus, schedules, & tasks; Basic math skills for handling cash transactions & portioning food; Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift & carry trays, & perform repetitive task. Knowledge of food allergies & dietary restrictions is a plus. Previous exp. in food service, customer service, or related field is a plus. Mon-Fri/8:00am-2:00pm. Duration from Aug. 2023-June 2024.
