Inventory Maintenance

Will be working under direction of Water Quality Supervisor, performing inventory of water meters & service lines within City of Paso Robles to comply with state regulations. Duties include: Removing meter box lids to identify & record material used in each service line; Keeping inventory records of different types of utility & customer owned service lines; Digging in meter box to expose utility & customer owned service lines for identification; Changing out meter box lids in varying sizes as replacements are needed; Painting fire hydrants. Required qualifications: Knowledge of computer applications related to work, including use of tablets or handheld devices for word processing, database, & spreadsheet applications; Knowledge of records management principles & practices; Knowledge of business arithmetic & basic statistical techniques; Knowledge of codes, regulations, policies, agreements, technical processes, & procedures related to City & departmental activities as well as applicable federal, state, & local laws, codes, rules, ordinances, & regulations; English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation; Techniques for providing high level of in-person customer service to public, representatives of other agencies, & City staff; Strong verbal & written communication skills & positive, courteous approach to working with customers to resolve problems; Ability to properly differentiate between types & sizes of materials used for service lines; Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions & with exposure to traffic, fumes, odors, dust, & potentially hazardous chemicals & conditions; Able to establish & maintain effective & cooperative working relationships; Able to use good judgment in dealing with public & responding to requests for information; Able to handle variety of activities simultaneously; Able to use hand tools & lift up to 30 lbs. Spanish language skills are desirable. Temporary only position expected to last 9-18 weeks. Wage: $17.82-$19.44 hr. DOE. (#3.0628.201 – Paso Robles)
