Sanitation Supervisor
Direct Hire | $75,000 Annual Salary | Overnight Shift
United Staffing Associates has been engaged by an established food production and fresh produce organization to conduct a direct-hire search for an experienced Sanitation Supervisor.
This position reports to the Food Safety & Sanitation Manager and provides hands-on leadership for overnight sanitation operations and is responsible for ensuring the facility is prepared to meet demanding standards for cleanliness, food safety, employee safety, and operational readiness.
The Sanitation Supervisor will lead and develop sanitation personnel, coordinate staffing and workflow, reinforce workplace safety, and identify and resolve operational issues. This role requires a supervisor who can balance accountability with effective people leadership and who understands the pace, demands, and standards of a fresh produce operation.
Leadership & Operational Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day sanitation operations during the assigned shift, establishing clear expectations for safety, quality, productivity, and performance.
- Interview, hire, train, coach, and develop sanitation employees.
- Plan, assign, schedule, and direct work based on production requirements and organizational priorities.
- Monitor employee performance, provide feedback and recognition, and administer corrective action when appropriate.
- Address employee concerns and workplace issues promptly and professionally.
- Evaluate sanitation processes, identify root causes of operational problems, and implement practical solutions.
- Coordinate staffing and resources to support changing production and sanitation demands.
- Maintain a clean, organized, professional, and harassment-free work environment.
- Promote accountability, teamwork, consistent attendance, punctuality, and a positive workplace culture.
- Communicate effectively with employees and other operational leaders to maintain continuity between sanitation and production activities.
Safety & Compliance
- Lead sanitation activities in accordance with established company safety practices and applicable Cal/OSHA requirements.
- Reinforce proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and established lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Identify unsafe conditions or work practices and take appropriate corrective action.
- Set the standard for safe work practices through consistent, visible leadership.
Qualifications
- Five or more years of related experience within fresh produce, food processing, food manufacturing, or a comparable industry.
- Working knowledge of fresh fruit operations strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience supervising, scheduling, training, and developing employees.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes, evaluate alternatives, and propose effective solutions.
- Ability to plan staffing and workflow according to operational and production needs.
- Intermediate computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Intermediate mathematical skills applicable to operational planning and reporting.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Conversational Spanish is desired but not required.
- Reliable attendance, punctuality, sound judgment, and a professional approach to leadership are essential.
Schedule
The shift begins at 7:00 p.m. and works Monday through Saturday, depending on business needs. Candidates should be comfortable leading an overnight operation and adjusting to production requirements as necessary.
Compensation & Benefits
Annual Salary: $75,000
