Sewing Machine Operator

Duties include: Operating sewing machine for specific job required; Properly threading & changing bobbins on machine; Maintaining stitch requirements (type & stitches per inch); Maintaining familiarity with different types of thread & material needed to perform assignments; Paying attention to details of requirements on operations; Filling out MOS as required; Paying attention to dimensional requirements for work being performed; Turning off machine at end of day or at completion of job at particular machine; Cleaning area at end of day (generally last 10 min before going home); Keeping track of necessary tools & equipment (scissors, seam rippers, etc.); Notifying Dept Head upon completion of job; Asking Dept Head for assistance when questions or doubts arise; Notifying Dept Head of discrepancies in material & any accidents (i.e. accidentally putting a hole in fabric while trimming threads); Checking work frequently; Performing quality work; Maintaining efficiency in performing duties; Maintaining work area clean & organized.
