Performs a full range of accounting & auditing work supporting financial reporting activities with a focus on medical expense functions & the Medi-Cal line of business (MCAL). Duties include: Identifying need for adjusting entries & preparing for supervisors’ approval; Potentially posting financial information on manual or automated system; Certifying general & subsidiary ledgers & activity records to reports & other control documents; Interpreting & consolidating financial & statistical information from variety of sources; Compiling & summarizing reports submitted by medical department, & preparing journal entries to record total expenses paid as well as accrue additional expenses; Maintaining Accounting department MCAL Capitation contracts & ensuring that payments are made according to current contracts with Providers; Preparing, maintaining, & filing department documentation; Purging obsolete file materials in accordance with internal policies; Preparing various accounting & statistical reports (such as: Unprocessed Claims Report, Standard Journal entry report, & Allocation of Medical Expenses worksheet). Required qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance from accredited institution or equivalent; 6+ yrs accounting or auditing exp. (as described above or closely related to) with at least 4+ yrs exp. in health insurance or HMO accounting. Temporary position. Wage: $22.00 hr. (#5.1215.109 – Bakersfield)
