United Staffing is partnering with the City of Paso Robles to fill a temporary, part-time Staff Assistant position supporting the Recreation Division with a variety of administrative and operational tasks. This temporary position is anticipated to last approximately six months; however, the exact duration is unknown. Incumbents will be scheduled to work approximately 16-18 hours per week.
Duties through August will primarily be focused on support for Concerts in the Park on Thursday nights and activities at Centennial Park on Friday. The work schedule will typically consist of Wednesday afternoons, full or half days on Thursdays ending at 9:30 pm, and half days on Friday until 2:00pm.
Beginning in September, duties will be primarily focused on supporting the after-school program. The work schedule will typically be Monday through Thursday from 1:00 pm to 5:30 pm.
Typical Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
• Summer-
• Assisting with Concerts in the Park including:
• Providing support with ticket sales and crowd control
• Concert set-up and clean-up
• Loading, unloading, and transporting ice chests and other supplies from Centennial Park to the City Park
• Inventorying and organizing concert supplies
• Assisting with lunch and swim programs
• Fall -
• Assisting with set-up, clean-up, and oversight of the following activities:
• Teen Center pool table, video games, and chill and snack bar areas
• Kid Corner featuring reading, craft s, and activities for younger children
• Open gym activities including basketball, badminton, ping pong, futsal, and handball

• Proper English usage, grammar, and spelling
• Applicable federal, state and Local laws, rules and regulations pertaining to the position
• Techniques for providing a high level of customer service to the public and City staff, in person and over the phone

• Perform detailed support work accurately, independently, and against deadlines
• Use initiative and independent judgment within established policy and procedural guidelines

• Compose correspondence, reports, and forms from brief instructions
Education and Experience
Equivalent to graduation from high school and either one year of related work experience in a library, office, or classroom setting, or as an intern in an accredited college/university graduate school program.
English/Spanish bilingual and biliterate proficiency, as well as strong customer service experience, are both desirable.
Physical Requirements
The work requires regular exertion of up to 25 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force. Work regularly requires standing, walking, speaking, or hearing, reaching with hands and arms and repetitive motions; frequently requires pushing or pulling; and occasionally requires sitting, using hands and kneeling or craw ling .
Other Requirements
During some assignments, such as Concerts in the Park, employees will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions and extreme heat.
Pay
